Gina Fratini was one of the generation of great British fashion
designers working in the late 60's & early 70's which include Ossie Clark,
Zandra Rhodes, Thea Porter & Bill Gibb. Elizabeth Taylor and Princess Diana
were notable names in her client list and her clothes were most definitely
considered luxury fashion.
This Fratini dress is typical of the early 70's fashion for romantic rustic
style, looking back to Victorian influences while adapting it to contemporary
70's aesthetic. It has frills on the sides of the bodice and skirt, and flounce
hem, with tie backs on the waist to give that extra snug fit. And the big
feature is the futter sleeves – a Fratini design signature. It has a typically
70’s brown and white colour palette floral print which perfectly complements
the country styling.
