An original antique, copper-engraved map of Cumberland with accompanying text below and on the reverse of the sheet. Originally published by John Seller in the late seventeenth century, this map was republished from 1773-1815 in Francis Grose's ‘The Antiquities of England and Wales’. This later version has a simpler title cartouche than the earlier Seller map published in ‘Anglia Contracta’ in 1694 and ‘Camden’s Britannia Abridged’ in 1701. The map itself measures approx 115mm x 140mm with the entire sheet measuring approx 170mm x 270mm, descriptive text verso.

The overall condition is good, there is overall light toning, light creasing to the text below, a faint stain to lower part of the sheet, well away from the map, and a small closed tear to the bottom corner of the sheet not affecting the printed area. See photographs.
