For sale is an unmodified, original pair of Audiomaster LS3/5A made under license from the BBC in 1978 in the original teak finish. These have been in my family's posession since 1979.

Audiomaster only ever made somewhere in the region of 10,000 pairs of these speakers, which makes them one of the rarest and most sought after examples of the iconic and legendary LS3/5A's ever made.

What makes these exampes even more unique, is that they were manufactured with an XLR input socket. This means that they were custom manufactured by Audiomaster for a professional studio or broadcaster- most likely the BBC themselves. The XLR socket versions are said to have undegone the strictest of testing and tuning to ensure they met exact specifications, meeting the strict requirements of their most important client. Of course any speaker cable can be used with this connection, either using a readily available adapter or by adding a male XLR plug to one end of your chosen cable.

These examples, of course, boast the most sought after original T27 tweeter, and the B110 SP1003 driver. Neither speaker has had or needed any repairs or modifications since they were made, and all parts are as originally built- and they both still sound fantastic!! 

The original crossovers and drivers are in amazing condition for the age as can be seen in the pictures.

Overall, these are in fantastic condition considering their 45+ year age, however there are some cosmetic points to note (all pictured)...

These are purely cosmetic points, and easily restorable should you wish to do so. These imprefections have no impact to their wonderful sound, and I feel add to their vintage charm.  

You will also notice that the original Audiomaster badges are missing from the front grills. However I have managed to source some aftermarket replacements (pictured) which I will include with the speakers for you to add to the grills should you wish. These have an adhesive strip so can be added to the grills instantly.
