This is the shortest of all dewalt ratchets which fits in very small places. Don't be fooled that 1/4 inch is weaker than 3/8 or 1/2 inch, remember that all impact guns are 1/4 Hex. 

We generally use our 10.8v batteries with 12v tools and vice versa without any issues simply because they are identical, it's just our brothern the Americans like to advertise big numbers everywhere.
