Issued for 100 shares in 1920. The company operated in the Owen's Lake district with two plants on Owen's Lake, one at Keeler and the other at Cartago. The two plants were about 10 miles apart. The company produced soda ash, a chemical product essential for the production of beet sugar, paper, certain kinds of soap and glass making. It was estimated that the lake contained approx. 200,000,000 tons of soda ash. This was the only place in the world where the ash was produced from natural brines. The Cartago plant soda ash was over 99% sodium carbonate, while the Keeler plant specialized in trona. The company shipped throughout the United States(Weekly Commercial News, 6/26/1920). The company was acquired in 1924 by the Inyo Chemical Company (Van Plank,Soda Ash Industry of Owens Lake, 1959). VF condition. Uncancelled.
