Canada #12 on Cover. Rare example of a single franking of the 1858 issue 3p beaver "perforated pence" on a very decent quality domestic cover, Beaverton CW to Artemesia CW. The stamp is tied with a neatly struck "PAID" postmark, additionally manuscript cancelled with two very light parallel pen lines. This "transitional" pence/cents period was very short and the paucity of properly franked covers reflects this fact.
