Medieval bronze chessman type seal matrix with hexagonal stem and suspension loop. The seal design shows a central heart in the centre of a six leaf clover, each leaf containing a quatrefoil. Around this design is written the legend IE SV SEL DE FID QVER LEL

This is a stock anonymous motto which means 'I am the seal of a faithful and loyal heart'. There are parallels for the use of QVER for coeu or cuer, meaning 'heart' see Harvey and McGuinness 1996, 115 for an example in the Public Record Office.

Supplied with a modern hard wax impression of the intaglio.

Height 1.7 cms (0.67 ins).  Very Fine condition with patina the design just a little worn.
