Medieval bronze chessman type seal matrix with hexagonal stem and suspension loop. The seal design shows a central heart in the centre of a six leaf clover, each leaf containing a quatrefoil. Around this design is written the legend IE SV SEL DE FID QVER LEL
This is a
stock anonymous motto which means 'I am the seal of a faithful and loyal
heart'. There are parallels for the use of QVER for coeu or cuer, meaning
'heart' see Harvey and McGuinness 1996, 115 for an example in the Public Record
Office.
