This vintage Pairpoint Glass Cup Plate 92 features an Early Glass Press design. Crafted using an old hand-operated press, this collectible art glass showcases the evolution of glass manufacturing. The cup plate, adorned with "Early Glass Press Sandwich Glass Museum" lettering, bears the historical dates: 1825 and 1888, which are the dates for the Boston & Sandwich Glass Company. Handcrafted on Cape Cod using traditional techniques, each 3.5-inch cup plate is a testament to the artisan's skill and dedication. Employing hammer and chisel, the craftsman meticulously created a steel mold for every intricate design. With an antique press, molten glass was pressed into the engraved mold, resulting in a series of cup plates that possess similarity, yet retain their unique characteristics. The irregularities serve as a testament to the handmade nature of each piece, adding to their inherent charm. Embedded within the design, you will find the artisan's initials and the Pairpoint trademark, a mark of authenticity and craftsmanship.
