Size: The sheet (including the margins) measures approximately 700mm x 495mm (27 1/2 inches x 19 1/4 inches). Title and plate number printed verso, as published; otherwise blank.

Description: A large, finely engraved, detailed map of the southern part of the German Empire in the late 19th century. Railways, Canals and battle sites are identified. The hydrography is printed in blue ink with further original outline colour added by hand.

Cartographer / Engraver: A.K. Johnston, with additions & corrections by T.B. Johnston.

Provenance: 'Royal Atlas of Modern Geography exhibiting in a series of entirely original and authentic maps, the present condition of geographical discovery and research in the several Countries, Empires, and States of the World', W. & A.K. Johnston, Edinburgh and London, 1886.

Condition: Very good condition. Light age toning / handling marks. A few bumps to the right edge of the sheet, not affecting the printed area. Attractive original colour. Centrefold and another vertical fold, as published. Please study all the photographs carefully to fully appreciate the condition.
