This is for an old antique leather Hymns book with a sterling silver cover from 1910. The silver has been embossed with an image from The Good Shepherd by J. Kehrens depicting Christ carrying a sheep. It is finely detailed and clearly hallmarked dating it to Birmingham 1910 with the makers initials BPDC for Boots Pure Drug Company. It was printed by William Clowes & Sons and states it is the full edition. It is in very good condition, the silver has light dinks and a couple of tiny splits to the edges but there are no holes to the raised parts which is where the silver usually suffers. The pages have retained their original gilding to the edges and the book measures 95mm (3.75") by 60mm (2.3") with 477 pages. There is a pen inscription at the front dated 1914.
