This is an antique Chinese Qing Dynasty (c. 1850) copper or brass pierce lidded hand warmer.  It has an articulated handle that sets down for ease of accessing the interior where ash and charcoal would be placed.  It comes up for convenient transport even when warm.  The pierced lid has a floral and butterfly motif.  It fits snug but is easily removed to add more charcoal.

Measuring 4" long and 3" wide by 2 1/2" high,  along with a nice warm aged patina, it remains in excellent condition.
