Vostok watches are still manufactured in the Russian city of Chistopol in the Russian province of Tatarstan. The factory began production in Moscow in the 1920s as the second Moscow state watch factory. However, in the course of the Second World War, it was relocated to Chistopol in over 170 truckloads in 1941 at the behest of Joseph Stalin. In addition to watches, the factory produced other important military products that were not intended to fall into German hands.

The name Vostok (Cyrillic for Vostok = East). The factory then got its hands in the 1960s. In honor of and based on Yuri Gagarin, who wrote space history with the Vostok missions of the same name. Vostok became the official supplier of the Russian Ministry of Defense. Due to the high quality of Vostok watches (robustness, reliability, accuracy).
