THE STORY
On March 9th 1985 Metallica played in San Diego for the first time. They had just completed their "Ride the Lightning" album. The show was held at a small club on the campus of San Diego State University called "The Backdoor." The clubs capacity was something like 200 people, they sold 300 tickets. Besides seeing Metallica for the first time ever, Armored Saint was opening the show. I had the "March of the Saint" LP and it was Armored Saints first show in San Diego as well. I remember the walls sweating with all the maniacs in the room. At one point they stopped the show because the barricades fell over. Without question, the best show I have ever been to. EVER!
