WW2 WWII SEPE OSD Seattle Port of Embarkation Canvas Dispatch Courier Mail Bags (2)
Dating from the 1940s, these 2 canvas bags with leather reinforcements are stenciled on both
sides:
First Bag is stenciled:
Front: SEPE (on flap); O.S.D. (Overseas Supply Division)
Back: O.S.D. (Overseas Supply Division)
Second Bag is stenciled:
Front: SEPE (on flap); Post Engineer
Back: Post Engineer
The Seattle Port of Embarkation began operations in January of 1942, in response to WWII, &
continued to serve as one of the busiest U.S. Army terminals through the Korean War, moving
troops, equipment & supplies overseas.
This type of bag was utilized as a messenger bag or map bag to transport orders, updates, mail,
etc, to various offices across Seattle Port of Embarkation.
These bags are in great used condition & measure about 12" x 17" each, perfect as memorabilia
OR can be repurposed as a messenger bag, a laptop bag (perfect fit for a 17" laptop!!), a courier
bag, etc. NO straps included but there are 4 metal D-rings for attaching carry or shoulder straps.
Two heavy duty metal snaps on the flap & 2 rows of snap-receptors to use depending on how full
the sack is. Two equal-sized compartments. Outside flap seams are reinforced with tan leather.
