The early silver coins of Queen Wilhelmina circulated heavily over a long period of time. They are seldom encountered in problem free uncirculated condition. The 2 ½ gulden is the best example of this with very few examples known in gem or near gem uncirculated.

Wilhelmina was born 1880 and, upon the death of her father William III in 1890, ascended to the throne at age 10 under the regency of her mother, Emma.
She was well educated and led with dignity and absolute commitment to the people of the Netherlands. She had no patience for politicians and cliques of power whether inside Netherlands or beyond.
Her marriage to Duke Henry of Mecklenburg-Schwerin was initially joyful, but Henry soon proved easily distracted and unfaithful. Wilhelmina was committed to fulfill her obligations as leader so remained with Henry and ultimately produced an heir, Juliana, in 1909.
Wilhelmina’s shrewd investments made her extremely wealthy and she used this money to fund industries in the Netherlands which resulted in significant growth of the nation’s economy. During World War II she led in exile, broadcasting to her people over Radio Oranje. She was and to this day remains a beacon of hope and justice and well regarded by the Dutch people.

Should any item that we sold as authentic be deemed not authentic by PCGS or NGC simply submit to us the document from PCGS or NGC which identifies the item in writing as "counterfeit", "forgery", or "not genuine" along with the Aurora Rarities LLC receipt and the item in question. Upon confirmation of these items we will refund 100% of the original purchase price to the original purchaser. For items we sell which are already certified the PCGS or NGC guarantee of authenticity applies and those companies will honor their guarantee directly.

This lot can be shipped within the USA. FREE SHIPPING via USPS Registered Mail within the USA. Registered Mail is the only shipping method available for this lot.
We work hard to ensure your order is well packed and promptly shipped. Once shipped, the USPS shipping method associated with this listing is estimated to take 3 to 5 business days.
