A signed and framed 38cm x 30cm presentation featuring C.A.S 'Tony' Brooks, the famous F1 racing driver who has sadly passed away at the age of 90.
Tony was a leading driver in the 1950s and won six grands prix, narrowly missing out on the world title in 1959 while driving for Ferrari.
The image is a 1956 Ralph Sallon print of Tony, which he kindly signed personally for me at the Goodwood Revival in 2008 when he was honoured with a special tribute that saw him get back behind the wheel of his old Vanwall and take to the track in his familiar Herbert Johnson helmet. Happy to provide a COA.
The print is taken from a collection of these cartoons called Motor Racing Drivers Past and Present.
His great friend and team-mate Sir Stirling Moss had huge respect for Tony's driving, saying: 'He was a tremendous driver, the greatest - if he'll forgive me saying this - 'unknown' racing driver there's ever been. He was far better than several people who won the world championship.'
This is a quality one-off presentation and would make a great addition to any F1 collection, but particularly those who are enthusiasts of 1950s racing, for many the golden age of the sport.
The mounted print has some minor foxing as can be seen in the photographs, to be expected of something that is 68 years old. The frame is black oak.
This item will be securely and safely packed, sent in bubble wrap and sturdy cardboard packaging.
