On August 29, 2014, during the withdrawal of the ATO forces from the encirclement near Ilovaisk, the Russians violated the agreement and shot at close range with heavy weapons a convoy of Ukrainian soldiers. Then 366 Ukrainian soldiers died, 429 were wounded, 158 went missing, 300 were captured.

🌻The deadly "green corridor" ran through fields with sunflowers, so the sunflower flower became the symbol of the Day of Remembrance of Defenders of Ukraine.
