This is a primitive coffee mill / grinder. It was manufactured between 1890 and 1920. The original label on the front glass says x-ray brand coffee mill number 1 . I believe it says Arcade manufacturing company. The round finial on top needs a new little tack to hold it on the top. But the round finial cast iron piece is there. There is a chip in the corner of the original glass front. That is the original sticker that came on the coffee grinder. I tried to take a picture of it, it is easier to see the label when it is cleaned up I was going to spray deft ( varnish) on that round label to make the color pop out and be more vibrant but I never got around to it. There is a lot of fancy detail in the cast-iron. The box itself is about 4 1/2 x 7 1/2. The entire grinder is about 12 inches long by 4 1/2 inches wide. It looks like someone took black tape at one time and put it around the wooden handle. I am mentioning this because it doesn’t stand out very much and I don’t want someone to be surprised. I had bought it to put up on my wall and never installed it. It looks like there is a small hole where the coffee grindings would fall out on the bottom and there was a cup at one time to catch the grindings. I don’t have the original cup. It’s a really neat primitive piece and I didn’t clean it up. I was going to use it the way it was, I’ve decided to sell it and let someone else enjoy it. Thanks for looking I tried to take pictures from every direction to show all the detail. There are already four screw holes that will make it easier to install on a wall.
