This delightful WOLF OR SHAGGY DOG will encourage any child (or adult) to drink their milk (or wine) from this ANTIQUE RORSTRAND PITCHER.    Ideal WEDDING GIFT!

His toothsome snout is the spout, his shaggy tail the handle and his rounded body details the body of the pitcher, sculptured finely, right down to his toenails, all in a high glaze piney green.  Contrasting the naturalistic wolf, the collar is finished in a Chinese or Asian design.

As identified by the RORSTRAND MUSEUM,  the jug was designed in July, 1897, and was made in flint ware in a model called AEI with a dark green glaze.  It was made while the Rorstrand factory was still in Stockholm.

Interestingly, Johann Wolf was directed to found Rorstrand in 1726, and perhaps this pitcher was created in his honor.  In the 1890's Asian arts and ceramics were major inspiration for European potters, hence the Chinese accents.

The pitcher is mint, unused condition and measures 9 1/4 inches wide by 7 1/2 inches tall.  One Rorstrand mark is under glaze, another partial mark is over glaze.  Email from museum included with sale.

Wolfy is unique addition to pitcher or Rorstrand collection (and your kids will drink their milk when poured from this fanciful jug.....).
