I have for sale a very rare Gallotone banjolele signed by George Formby in 1953.

The instrument is in need of some minor restoration, a good clean and the action will need setting up.

The dimensions of the instrument are 58 cm long with the bowl 21 cm wide. There are 17 frets, eight strings, and the original skin is good condition with no splits.

The signature looks to be in pencil, and dated 1953. I have been advised by a professional luthier specialising in vintage stringed instruments that many George Formby signatures found on similar instruments of this era were stamped, but added that the fact that this is dated suggests the signature is authentic. The George Formby appreciation Society would be able to verify the authenticity

The instrument comes with a fabric case, which is not the original.

I would prefer collection, but I would also post if necessary.
