1883 5C Shield Nickel

1883 5C Shield Nickel

The 1883 Shield Nickel is a coin that was minted by the United States Mint. It features a design of a shield on the obverse side and a V (Roman numeral for 5) on the reverse side. The shield nickel was designed by James B. Longacre and was minted from 1866 to 1883. The 1883 Shield Nickel is notable because it was the last year of issue for this coin before it was replaced by the Liberty Head Nickel.
