This One mature owned from new mk2 Brompton L5 or M5L C line equivalent folding bicycle remains Rust Free and in what can only be described as timewarp, totally original condition, having only seen the occasional short leisure rides taken away in a caravan and always been dry stored covered in dry garage the rest of the time.

The bike was purchased new from Cyclery in Avon Valley, Bath and with hub date of July 1997 would suggest that it was built either late 1997 purchased in 1998. The stamped 6 digit frame number 140391 dates the frame build from November 1996 to November 1997 according to records.

As such this rare to find older mk2 still having all of its original parts including the plastic mudguards and chainwheel guard.

Both Raleigh Record tyres have deep tread with no perishing.

Foam saddle remains undamaged.

Union non folding pedal.

Original optional folding pedal with reflectors.

Wheel, Pedal & Front/Rear Reflectors.

Original plastic handlebar grips.

Original large frame decal in red.

Original cardboard sales tag usually cable tied to rear of saddle.

The gloss Black paint finish still looks very nice and shiny having been carefully polished, with only a few light scratches/marks all over but mostly on the rear triangle from folding pedal clashing which have all now been carefully touched in with gloss black. One side of the terracotta colour decal has some damage from clashing with folding pedal.

Both tyres are inflated, checked over/adjusted, and it’s all in fully functional excellent working order, having excellent smooth working brakes, with the Sturmey Archer Sprinter 5 speed hub gear mechanism shifting smoothly between all the gears using the tried and tested thumb type shifter.

The bike has been kept well lubricated so running gear is in great shape not rusted up like most mk2’s of this era.

The frame joints have barely any paint loss from new as pictured, where they clamp together more evidence of not being used a great deal.

The only negatives with the entire bike being one of the jockey wheels attached to the frame has bent from taking a fall from shelf which collapsed in the garage when folded so luckily all the impact was on this one point so no other damage occurred in it’s cover!!!!! I installed a rubber seatpost bung/stopper which handily allows the bike to stand upright on most firm surfaces as can be seen in the last few pictures. How the plastic jockey wheel remained undamaged is quite baffling…….

This does however mean the bike CANNOT stand in the ‘parked’ position unfolded with rear wheel tucked under.

The rear mudguard has the usual surface scratching to the top part from folding/unfolding on uneven surfaces which is purely cosmetic and performs the job perfectly still.
