Radio shows were first syndicated on reel to reel tape, later on LP stereo discs, then CD's and now digitally. Collectors can no longer get their hands on this quality material so the surviving shows that are available will keep going up and up in value. These radio shows were never intended for public use & most were destroyed or returned to the manufacturer after use, so they're very difficult to find.

Founded in 1976 by Norman Pattiz, the original Westwood One was one of the largest producers and distributors of radio programming in the United States.  Based in New York City, they broadcast entertainment, news, weather, sports, talk, and traffic programming to about 7,700 radio stations across the United States.

In January 1981 Pattiz started recording live concerts for broadcast and became a leader in live broadcasts and concert recordings for radio until May, 2011.  Westwood One was most notable for its coverage of live events, and on-location recording of concerts allowing them to provide live music to fans around the country.  In October of 2011 Westwood One merged with Triton Media Group to form the current Westwood One.

From 1988 to 1992 Westwood One ran a weekly radio show called The Lost Lennon Tapes. One week after the final episode of The Lost Lennon Tapes, Westwood One began producing the new radio series "The Beatle Years".  The shows each week dives deep into the Westwood One archive vaults of interviews, concert recordings, and other live footage to tell the story of The Beatles songs, albums, creative processes, and all aspects of their lives including relationships both professional and personal - and takes a reflective look at the band and the music, that defined a generation, through both their own eyes, and through eyes of the "insiders" who were there.

This auction is for the The Beatle Years:  "The End, Parts One & Two".  These Original 60 minute Radio shows come in custom die cut Westwood One cardboard covers and include the Cue Sheets.  Broadcast in March 2001, JJ Johnson is joined by Mark Lewisohn and these two shows focus on the the Break Up of the Greatest Rock & Roll Band of all time.  It is becoming difficult to locate these original episodes from 2001 (over 22 years later) this auction includes both episodes, broadcast one week apart.

I have over 300 Original Westwood One "The Beatles Years" episodes available for sale between 1992 - 2007.  If you have a specific show you are looking for, I probably have it. Be sure to contact me with your want list.
