The 'Eight Buddhas', with six Buddhas of the past,
Gautama Buddha and Maitreya, the latter larger than
all the others and show with a diadem.
Terracotta 10,5 cm high
Triangular votive table found in Lamphun Province, populary known
as Eight Buddhas or 12 Buddhas, shows a large Buddha image
wearing a multi-pronged diadem, earrings and a necklace.
He is seated in the adamantine meditiation posture, in the maravijaya mudra.
Aboce the overturned and upturned lotus base supported by a lion's head
between 2 elephant heads, are 2 Buddha images which are the next largest in size.
They are also in the adamantine meditation posture in the maravijaya mudra
on overturned and upturned lotus thrones. In addiction, there is a disciple
seated holding a lotus flower on each side.
Each figure is a five-lobe niche and a four-tiered prasada.

These eight Buddha images appear in the Mahasatipatthana Sutta
in the Digha Nikaya of the Theravada sect.
A similar tablet as this one was excaveted in the second cultural layer of Wat Sangkharam
(Wat Pradu Li), Muang district, Lamphun province.
It was dated using C14 dating to 900 BP + 90, giving a likely date of 1270.
