A fabulous brass dolphin intertwined around a trident.  33cm tall weighs about 1.9kg

There are no makers marks but I believe this comes originally from Italy and probably from Venice.  It may have been made by a modern maker, Giovanni Gurato, who is based in Venice. (Search for "Giovanni Gurato Dolphin" to find a very similar example). I have also found another similar example used as an ornament on the side of a Venetian Gondola. (Search for images of  "Cavalli Gondola Dolphin Trident")

Whilst this is relatively modern manufacture, the style is late 18th / early 19th century. The dolphin is very beautifully modelled.

The brass is lacquered with some minor scuffs.

It was originally screwed in to a brass plinth. It has been removed from the plinth by a previous owner but it still stands well as it is.  Some elements have been removed from the rear of the figure including a fin but it still displays very well from the front. The top of the trident is at an angle to the shaft.  Otherwise the item is in very good used condition.

The price reflects the condition. No offers thanks.
