This was the first holster adopted by the US Army for the new COLT revolver with 7 1/2 inch barrel. It incorporated the Hoffman swivel, which had a limited pivot to prevent the holster inverting and losing the pistol. The belt loops fits all standard Civil War and Indian War period 1 3/4" leather belts. This model will not hold Remington or Smith & Wesson revolvers.
