Antique Sterling Silver Wagon Wheel Band Thimble

Simons Brothers * Circa 1900

This sterling silver thimble was made by Simons Bros. of Philadelphia. Their shield trademark and "Sterling Silver" are stamped inside the top and the size (12) is on the band. The rim is embossed with scrolls and the band is engraved all around with wagon wheel designs.

The condition is excellent, crisp and in round with no holes, dents or even much wear. The cartouche is not personalized. Oddly, this same thimble is shown on p. 120 (Plate 21) of Gay Ann Rogers' book American Silver Thimbles and hers is by the Waite, Thresher Co.
