Ask a new watch collector to name the top brands of vintage chronographs, and Longines is not usually among the list. However, to many seasoned vintage watch collectors, vintage Longines chronographs made between the 1930s and 1960s are among the most desired. This is the case for one primary reason: the movements. From the 1930s to the 1960s, Longines produced in-house chronograph movements, whereas many other companies relied on purchasing chronograph movements from companies like Valjoux, Venus, and Lemania. The two most well-known and well-respected Longines chronograph movements are the 13ZN (the first flyback chronograph movement ever made) and the 30CH. It is a movements made for use by a doctor as it includes both a pulsations scale and respirations scale. These helped doctors cut down on the time necessary to gauge a person’s pulse and breath. The doctor would simply start the chronograph and count 30 heartbeats and then stop the chronograph to see the person's heartbeats per minute on the red scale. The doctor could repeat the process and would only need to count 5 breaths to determine a person’s breaths per minute on the blue scale. While finding vintage chronographs with a pulsations scale is not terribly difficult, we rarely see a watch with the respirations scale. The watch I put up for sale has 4 scales. In addition, there is an additional scale on the small chronograph dial. This is an incredible example of a 1930s stainless steel Longines chronograph. It has a beautiful silver dial with a blue respirations scale and a red pulsations scale ( Plus there are also 3 scales whose purpose I don’t know) which is quite rare . The vintage Longines chronographs from the 1930s to the 1960s are highly sought-after and have exceptional quality. Unlike most watch manufactures from the time period, Longines made their own in-house movement instead of contracting an outside company. Their most collectible movement was their caliber 13ch which was a 17 jewel fly-back manual wind movement produced from the 1930s to the 1940s. After the 13ch caliber came the Longines 30ch which is also a high quality movement and very desirable.
Watch from the renowned Swiss brand Longines, produced in 1923. It is a watch measuring 5.8 cm in diameter, with some particularities that make it a piece of excellence. It has a central hand activated by a button located at 12 o'clock. The time measured by this hand is recorded on a small dial, thus being the chronograph function. Unique is its large size and the 5 scales reproduced on the beautiful dial. Very rare nowadays.

Movement - Keeps time very well in very good working condition Quality Superior Chronometer. Movement bout 100 years (made in 1923) but nevertheless its in great state. This is a chronograph movement. The chronograph function is activated by pressing the button at number 12. A second press of this button stops the chronograph. A third press of the button returns the chronograph hands to zero.
CASE – handmade of stainless steel . This watch case made by hand by order for this movement & dial, the back cover is made of stainless steel and mineral glass, so you can visually enjoy the work of the movement.
DIAL – in VERY good state.
