Rare Eclair Vermorel Copper Backpack WW1 Trench Spraying Canister

These backpacks have been used for crop spraying for many a year and company still manufactures spraying equipment today. However, during World War 1 they were actually used to neutralise chlorine gas attacks in the trenches as one of the attached photos shows. An example can also be found in the Imperial War Museum.

I have no idea whether this one actually served in the Great War or not but it certainly is an eye catching piece in lovely condition.

It is extensively embossed throughout.

It is made almost entirely from copper with some rubber inside the cap.

Stands over 45cm high, by 35cm wide by 18cm deep and weighs around 6kg.

Weathered condition with dents, staining, errant paint splatters and scratches commensurate with age. It does also smell strongly “of chemicals” with its lid off!

Sold as seen in photos without spray nozzle/tubing, handle or backpack straps.

Will be posted well wrapped and fully tracked.
