This is a nice old survivor from the late 1960s, a clean and fully functional 0-60 MPH Schwinn Approved speedometer head from Huret of France, made in the original series from 1968 through 1974. 

This has had a full rebuild and is in full working order with a good overall finish. It's been disassembled, freshly lubricated, polished, waxed and reassembled, turning freely and ready to go. There are some speckles, flaking and wear in the finish of the case (see Photos 3, 4 & 5), but all chrome has been polished to restore the shine, and waxed to keep it that way. The original mounting bracket carriage bolt and nut were missing, so I have installed new replacements.

The speedometer head is 2 3/8" wide, 2¼" high and 1 5/8" deep. It has a polished chrome bezel, glass face, and chrome housing, with white numbers on a black dial, and a bright orange pointer. There is no accumulated mileage; it's just passing 0000.1.

This head can be used on any size of front wheel, as these Huret models are calibrated by the drive hub (not included), not the speedometer head.

This Schwinn Approved Huret speedo head fits any size of bicycle; the correct reading is determined by the Schwinn or Huret drive hub (sold separately), which should be stamped with the correct front wheel size for your bike.
