THE ITEM DESCRIPTION:  Charlie Chaplin stands 8” tall. The all celluloid wind-up toy was made in Japan circa 1930. Charlie wears his traditional Tramp outfit characterized by the bowler hat, ill fitting suit, overly large shoes & a cane. He is holding the removable celluloid cane in the front & is all celluloid. He has his movie trademark little mustache which on this toy is red. His hair is blonde or light brown. This is a wind-up toy & it is working. When wound the toy vibrates which cause the figure to move around. The buyer will receive a key.Note the unusual construction of the toy which gives it a sturdy base so that it doesn't fall over when vibrating. The overly large shoes help to keep it stable but the base is formed by letting the pants drape down in back so that when standing upright the figure rests on the back edge of his pants. The toy is in excellent condition with some minor fading to the black jacket in front & the hat. There is some minor denting & cracks to the hat brim in the front. Overall a toy of impressive size in outstanding working condition & extremely RARE. The toy is marked Made in Japan in back along the bottom edge of his black suit coat & there is a trademark which I would describe as a tied ribbon/bow. Toy was made in 1930.  This listing is for only the Japanese celluloid Chaplin.
