AN EXTREMELY RARE 19TH CENTURY PENNSYLVANIA "APPLE OR CENTERPIECE" TRAY WITH CANTED SIDES AND ENDS ALL IN THE ABSOLUTE BEST ORIGINAL GRUNGY IVORY WHITE PAINTED SURFACE AND PATINA.
POPLAR, PENNSYLVANIA, CIRCA 1820-1840.
CANTED ON ALL FOUR SIDES. ALL SQUARE NAIL CONSTRUCTION.
AN EXTREMELY FINE EXAMPLE OF AN APPLE TRAY OR MORE APPROPRIATELY A TABLE TRAY IN ITS ORIGINAL GRUNGY IVORY WHITE PAINT.
These boxes were used to hold fruit or vegetables and were placed onto the table as a centerpiece.
Great size being 13" across the top and 11" at the base on one side and 13 1/2" wide and 11 1/2" on the other side.
It is 4 1/2" tall.
Typical wear and imperfections with age. Minor losses to paint as seen in photos.
