ITEM DESCRIPTION

This bureau plat, with its recessed central drawer and female mask corner mounts, is based upon a series of celebrated bureaux plats with female masks produced around 1715-20 in the workshop of the most celebrated French ébéniste of the Louis XIV period, André-Charles Boulle. Boulle usually worked in tortoiseshell and brass marquetry, however, 18th century examples are also recorded in amaranth and ebony. Boulle also produced models with satyr masks chutes.

Cabinet made by Befort are easy to find, however tables made by Mathieu Befort are extremely rare and only can be seen in Museums or very important collections.

Antique, rare, profusely decorated and exceptional Mathieu Befrot ormolu mounted ¨boulle´´ marquetry and ebony table/deck (bureau plat) made by Mathieu Befort in France during middle 19th century. With three drawers in one side. Regency or Napoleon III style. In the pictures i removed some mounts to shows signature and marks, but table is complete (no missing bronze mounts). Really magnificent and fabulous table in original condition with singlas of use consistent with age. Completely decorated with bronze mounts with the shape of lion legs, masks, cariatides and foliage. Measures are 154 centimeters X 82 centimeters X 79 centimeters. Shipping  cost via Fedex certified with tracking code is free (including a wooden box professionally made to protect the table perfectly - we ship worldwide - 3 to 6 weeks to arrive).
