This listing is for a beautiful, vintage, men's Art Deco, 10K rolled gold plate, Benrus watch. This watch is gorgeous! The case is square in shape with bowed sides. The case has a rolled gold bezel and a stainless steel snap back. My understanding of rolled gold is that it is very similar to gold filled, which is a thick, gold outer shell with base metal inside. Gold that is filled with some other type of metal. Rolled gold is some form of base metal with a gold outer shell rolled onto it. This watch has a beautiful and subtle Art Deco design, but the most striking feature of this watch is its jeweled dial. The dial itself is beige enamel, with ruby crystal baguettes at the 12, 3, and 9 o'clock positions, and colorless, diamond-looking crystals set in between the ruby crystals. Please note my use of the word crystals, as I do not believe these to be genuine gemstones, but simulated gems instead. The dial looks beautiful, but it does have some damage, as at the enamel at the center of the dial and up toward the B in the Benrus logo is cracked and there is chipping of the enamel where the hands attach. There is a subdial at the base of the main dial that counts the seconds. This lower subdial is missing its hand. The gold outer shell of the watch case shows wear along the edges of the bezel, on the lugs and the outside edges of the corrugated stripes just above the lugs. Base metal in these areas shows through. This is to be expected with a watch of this age, as these are the areas that come into contact or rub against other surfaces more than other parts of the watch. Otherwise, the gold outer shell is in good condition and lovely in color.

The watch crystal is clear and in excellent vintage condition.  The watch case has a stainless steel, snap back closure with the serial # 262863. The watch has a beautiful, brown, tooled leather band with a buckle closure. The band is pre owned so it shows wear in the form of some wrinkles, but is in excellent condition for a pre owned, vintage band. The watch in general just looks really gorgeous, and as far as appearance goes, it can be worn just as it is. Please note that this paragraph deals with the watch's appearance and not its functioning. Please read the next paragraph for that.

At the time of listing, this watch is not running.  The crown is stuck in the function of setting the time, so I can't wind the watch to test it and see if it runs. It's possible the watch may run once the crown is properly engaged and the watch can be wound, but I just don't know, so I'm selling the watch for restoration/repair.

In my opinion, because of the watch's age and gorgeous appearance, it will make a worthy timepiece in which to invest.

The model on the watch movement is BB 2 and it has 15 jewels. Benrus watches are difficult to date, so I don't know the exact age of this watch, but it is very obviously midcentury, and based on style, likely manufactured between the mid-to-late 1940s and the early 1950s. I've included several photos of the watch movement to help answer any questions buyers may have. I have no idea of what the watch's repair entails, so buyers should factor this into their decision whether to buy or not. As stated, though, this is a beautiful looking piece, and classic for the era in which it was made. It's worth the investment and will be a beautiful addition to one's vintage watch collection and give the new owner much satisfaction for years to come.  I've tried to include detailed photos that show any condition issues, as well as highlight the watch's beauty, such so please be sure to view them all.

I try my best to thoroughly research items before listing and include as much information as possible in the item's description, but I encourage buyers to please supplement with their own research and be certain before buying, as I do not accept returns on vintage watches.  I do allow for sales of vintage watches to be canceled up to the point when the watch ships. Watches usually ship within 24 hours of purchase, but sometimes there is a delay up to 48 hours or so, usually related to ongoing health issues or travel.  I don't ship on weekends. Once the watch leaves my possession at the post office, the sale is final with no returns. Pictures are to be considered as part of the description. Please review the images for a better idea of condition, and I would be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Shipping will be $5.50 USPS insured first class, and i would be more than willing to combine shipping.

I don't offer a return policy, but... i will stand behind my listings. if i make a mistake on my listing, or i misunderstand an item or miss a relevant flaw on the items listed, i will do ANYTHING in my power to make things right for the buyer, so bid with confidence.
