VINTAGE Hand Carved Wooden Bowl - Canoe like form - Possibly Antipodean

An old carved wooden bowl in boat-shaped form, with 4 leet on underside. 

All looks to be carved from one piece. 

I say Antipodean because it came in In-Laws house and they have a few bits of Maori carvings and decorative pieces. It has a sor tof Pacific feel, but I don't know for sure.

Dark stripe of wood colour down middle, a bit like a Yew has two colours

No varnish but underside is blackened, like a burnt finish.
