Re-listed due to a timewaster who had no intention of purchasing.

Austin A70 Hereford

I bought this car earlier this year with the intention of using it as a daily runner for the summer months. However, I now need the space for another project so this one has to go.

Engine & Running Gear
Mechanically, the car runs and drives wonderfully. The upgraded twin SU carbs make the car far more responsive than the original Zenith set-up and the 2200cc engine is nippy compared to the smaller a40 Somerset that these Herefords are often mistaken for!
The car keeps a steady temperature and does well on runs.

The column shift gear change works as it should and all gears select well however, first gear is slightly noisy

The tyres are radials but will need replacing as there are cracks showing. I would have done this next if I were to have used it as intended. Luckily, you can get radial taxi tyres that fit these for around £50 each.

All the lights work as they should. It has had flashing indicators fitted as well as the original tariffications - the best of both!

The brakes work well and pull the car up straight.

Bodywork
All in all, the bodywork is presentable. As you can see in the detailed photos, there are a few areas where it has had cosmetic work in the past and a few areas where there are signs of rust underneath the paint. The bottom half looks as though it has had a blow-over at some point but this looks more than presentable. On the whole, the car is very solid and ready to use and enjoy.

Interior
The interior is a time warp and looks to be largely original. The leather has great patina to it and the headlining and carpet is in remarkably good condition. There is a tear in the leather of the back seat. The door cars are all present and again seem to be all original.
The car benefits from a factory sunroof which opens and shuts smoothly - perfect for summer days!

Underside
The car looks very solid underneath. These Austins were made with separate chassis which were always very solid. The floors and body panels generally look very solid. The boot floor is in great shape as are the sills (the A70s and A40s were renown for rotting away here.)
It has been fitted with a tow-bar in the past although the end attachment is missing. It is certainly a car that has been well looked after and kept in the dry.
