"CLAWS OF STEEL"  

 artist: DAVE PETHER

This is the original painting created by Dave Pether (1943-2021) that was used to illustrate the cover of "Claws of Steel" - Book #4 of 8 in the fictional "Dogs of War" series by well-known author of WWII books, Leo Kessler (pen name of Charles Whiting) - for the paperback edition published by Futura, 1974 (I show the published book cover for reference only).   Marvelous details and action, one of his best ....Handpainted in gouache and acrylic on illustration board in "wraparound" format, 11" x 15.75" and carries a label on the back signed by the artist's widow/executor attesting to authenticity.
