If you just checked this auction listing, you know the quality of the master blacksmith. Secondly, I have this set in hand physically- most Japanese vendors here does not have the physical item that they list for sale. Check their listing and you will see how different sellers have the same photo’s and you can tell they come from all different sources as their background is not consistent with tools that they sell in their auction listing. You can see their prices differs and they usually do not have the physical item in their inventory, because they actually buy it from where those photo’s originate from- only after you have paid for it! What happens if someone else has purchased it? This scenario is the same way when you shop for guitars in Japan. What I list here I have physically in my hand and the actual item you will get- not a file photo. So rest assured you will get what is pictured and as described.

Up for consideration is for High Speed Steel ten (10) Piece Japanese Oire Nomi Bench Chisel Set, handcrafted by Master Blacksmith Yoshio Usui from Yoita-cho, Nagaoka City in Niigata Prefecture, under his brand name SUKEMARU. This ten (10) piece chisel set is new old stock & unused- still has original plastic sleeves on them. The handle on these are out of lacquered Japanese red oak. Back side of chisels blade has single ura.

These high speed steel has significant property of being tough as far as abrasion resistant, shock resistant and keeps it edge longer for prolonged usage without having to constantly sharpen it’s edge.

“HSS oiirenomi are a modern variation of mentori oiirenomi made using high-alloy steels tougher and more resistant to abrasion and high temperatures than more traditional steels. These chisels are useful for doing remodeling work and cabinet and equipment installations where plywood, MDF, OSB, LVL, drywall, acoustic board, insulated board, plaster, mortar, underlayment and studs full of hidden nails, and even ALC (autoclaved lightweight concrete) panels need to be cut, trimmed, fitted or demolished” as stated by Covington and Sons.

I have properly maintained these sets with Camilla Japanese oil & stored in a climate controlled environment with relative humidity between 45-55%. This comes in a generic corrugated box in very good condition that has wear (from storage) with foam insert to hold the 10 chisels.
