Mint Error Coin

Here we have a very nice 50p broadstrike.

There's no pink on this coin, this is simply reflection. I struggled with taking pictures with this one.

A broadstrike occurs when the collar die fails to centre the coin. This has resulted in some unstruck metal, which shows the correct dull and marked finish of a pre struck coin. There is a small area in the shape of a step where the collar die pushed up against the coin.

The coin has some black dirt on the tails side. This is highly in keeping with dirt from the belt of a counting machine. Due to the larger diameter of the coin it will become stuck in most machines with the belt continuing to run until the machine stops and the coin is removed. This coin will not have seen much circulation for this reason, if any, and that's why I recommend keeping the dirt on.

This is a very nice and interesting coin.

Please see my other listings for more errors.

Many thanks, and remember, Trust Rusty!!

Combined postage will be charged at £1 extra per coin.
