WW1 Italy Fatherland Gold

Italian Fascist Medallion -

Diede Oro Alla Patria 1917

DESCRIPTION This is aWW1 Italy fatherland gold Italian fascist medallion as shown. The medallion comes with no papers, box etc, the maker and age is unknown. The text reads "Diede Oro Alla Patria 1917" this translates to approx "Gave Gold To The Fatherland 1917" After an internet search it seems to be connected to a 1935 Italian fascist campaign. I am not sure why the date 1917 is on the medallion. Advice very welcome about this item.

Oro alla Patria ("Gold to the Fatherland") was a 1935 Italian fascist campaign that asked Italians to donate their gold assets to fundraise for their homeland. Faced with League of Nations sanctions for its Second Italo-Ethiopian War, the Fascist government collected 250,000 wedding rings from Rome and 180,000 from Milan, amid other personal gold jewelry and objects totalling 33,600 kilograms of gold and 93,400 of silver. In acts of sacrifice for the state, prominent figures donated items of great symbolic value: the Queen's wedding ring, the Prince's collar of the Annunciation, the dramatist Luigi Pirandello's Nobel PrizeGuglielmo Marconi's senator medal, and Mussolini's Rocca delle Caminate castle statue busts.

Please remember to check out the "Item Specifics" for possible further information.

CONDITION  I will leave you to decide; please look at the photos carefully. I think the general condition is good used collectable for the age. As you can see in the photos, there are user, age marks, handling and storage marks etc, not 100% perfect. It looks like a loop has been removed. All the other ones shown on the internet show a small top loop.

I am not an expert, large scans / pictures can be sent to assist you. I am normally on line Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 10am-3pm.
