 Dedicated to the Ukrainian historian, Slavist, linguist, orientalist, writer, translator, one of the founders of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences and one of the first academicians, Agatangel Krymsky.
Fluent in almost sixty languages, mostly Oriental, and knowing all the dialectal features of the Ukrainian language, he made a significant contribution to Ukrainian Orientalism and Ukrainian studies.
Crimean's uniqueness as a phenomenon in world culture was recognized by the decision of the UNESCO General Assembly to include this outstanding figure in the list of the most outstanding figures of humanity.

The obverse of the coin features: above - the small State Emblem of Ukraine, to the right of which are the inscriptions: UKRAINE/2 UAH/2021; a composition symbolizing the activities of the orientalist and the source of knowledge - a geometric decor of open books that form a multi-beam star, in the center of which are the words of A. Krymsky: I UNDERSTOOD THAT I HAVE TO BE/ A UKRAINOPHILE -/ THIS I UNDERSTOOD/ QUITE CONSCIOUSLY; under the quote is a facsimile of A Krymsky; the logo of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint (lower right).

The reverse of the coin features a portrait of Agatangel Krymsky against a background of vertical lines that add some drama and symbolize the tragic fate of the scientist, with diagonal inscriptions below the portrait: AGATANGEL (left), KRYMSKY (right); below the portrait are the years of his life - 1871-1942.
