Owned by a friend of mine from from new, their name is on the reverse of the plastic case. I'm the second person to own this since 1987.

This is the rare Japanese import with the "DBB" instead of "MEGA BASS", as all the European models used instead as well as the Japanese stickers & paperwork throughout.

This very clean example has had the following work done to it to help it work for the next 20 years before another service: The playback head has been polished & demagnetized. Both capstans have been cleaned & demagnetized. Both rubber pinch rollers have been replaced with brand new. All gears & switch gear have been checked & lubricated. The clutch gear has been replaced with new old stock. The large forward direction silver gear in the cassette bay has been checked for cracks. All capacitors have been checked. The volume control dial has been cleaned to stop any crackle occurring. The playback direction plunger solenoid lever has been checked for cracks & is fully working. The drivebelt has been replaced with brand new.

Playback speed has been calibrated to 3025Hz.

The sound from the 501 range is very clear, very punchy & very dynamic.

This 501 does not disappoint, it looks great & it sounds incredible too.

There are some age related rubs to the front paint & control button area, but these are not scratch marks, or dents, on this nearly 37 year old Walkman. These are caused only by sliding the Walkman in & out of the dedicated black plastic case included.

The cassette bay is very clean & almost new looking.

There is no battery acid damage to the "Gumstick" battery bay.

The NH-14WM(A) Battery included Cannot Be Guaranteed due to its 36 year old age!

The "AA" dedicated Battery Holder does show some inside light corrosion, but it work fine either way & does not show on the outside at all!

This sale is for the Black WM-501, with Serial Number 74391, the Walkman itself, Black Plastic Case, Power Adapter, "AA" Battery Holder, NH-14WM(A) Battery, Japanese 100v Chager, All Original Paperwork, 1987 Yen 25,000 Value Ticket & Original Sales Packaging with Serial Number 74391 Only.

No refund is given if I cannot find my microdot markers inside any returned Walkman!
