These tea cup sets are Calyx ware.

History:

Calyx ware was a trade name of William Adams & Sons.

There is little or no information on the origins of the name. Originally, Calyx ware appeared to be hand-decorated ware. Later, Calyx ware was hand-colored with transfer patterns, all in a light pattern, often with pastel-colored blocks/bands.

The name appears to have been introduced around 1930 and continued throughout the Adams business operation. The name was continued after the 1966 takeover by Wedgwood; the use of the name seems to have finished around 1975.

The tea cups and saucers have crazing, and there is some minor cosmetic wear. One tea cup has an edge where the pattern is worn off or was not completed during manufacturing. Please see the pictures. Otherwise, all eight pieces are clean and come from a non-smoking environment.

When purchased, the item will be packed with care and shipped via the purchaser's choice of USPS priority or ground shipping.
