Dutch restaurated, oil painting on wooden panel, “the Gawner,”

after Pieter Breugel the eldest or the young one,

This painting has been in the family for a long time and ended up in the attic and was rediscovered last year. The piece was cleaned and restored by a renowned restorer in 2023/2024. It concerns a painting of the "Gaper" by Pieter Breugel the Old or the Young, a copy of which is exhibited in the Museum of Fine Arts in Brussels. The size of this piece is 13.0x 9.8 cm. The restorer suspects that this is an 18-19 century copy. However, according to tradition, this piece has been in our family's property for several centuries. I have been in contact with the director of the museum in Ghent who suspected that the piece was from the 17th century and that the painter may have been familiar with the Breugel family.

This piece is accompanied by an extensive treatment report of the restoration and research in Dutch The piece is offered including a frame.
