Dmytro Bortnyansky is the author of operas, choral, symphonic, chamber-instrumental works that reflect the motifs of Ukrainian folk songs. His church-vocal style is the pinnacle of contemporary art, and his creativity influenced the development of Ukrainian music for centuries to come.

A stylized composition is placed on the obverse of the coin: against a background of baroque floral elements – a sheet music with a handwritten score, above which are six-winged seraphim, symbolizing the greatness of the composer's spiritual music, the desire for the Divine; below, on a mirror background: the inscription UKRAINE, under which is the small State Coat of Arms of Ukraine; on both sides of the Coat of Arms: denomination of the coin – 2, graphic symbol of the hryvnia (on the left), year of coin minting 20/21 (on the right); logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine (bottom right on a mirror background).

The reverse of the coin depicts a portrait of D. Bortnyansky on a mirror background, to the left of which on a matte background are the inscriptions: 1751/DMYTRO/ BORTNIANSKY/ 1825 (vertical).
