Original Civil War Carte de Visite 3/4 Portrait of a Naval Officer with his hat and fancy sword. The card has a the Internal Revenue Proprietary green 3 cent stamp. The stamp has been canceled by Round Date stamp which reads Jan 16 1865, B & O, Boston. The photographer is Black & Case, Boston. 

The photo card is in good antique condition and measures 2-1/2" x 4".

The CDV or Carte de Visite photo cards were very popular in the 1860's as they were small (the size of a calling card) and could easily be exchanged or mailed.
