The mahogany case has an arched glazed hood door with wavy edge crossbanded surface.  The door is flanked with barley twist turned columns with turned capitols.  The raised arch is crossbanded and finished with a shaped cresting with 3 brass spire finials.  The trunk door is finished with flame mahogany, crossbanded and line inlaid.  The door has flame mahogany panels above and below with line inlays and is flanked with inset barley twist columns with turned capitols.   The base has a flame mahogany front with line inlay and crossbanded borders and is raised upon original front bracket feet.  (Many Victorian Welsh and West Country clocks only have front feet and no back feet).
The 8 day movement has been overhauled cleaned and serviced and is in good working order striking the hours on a bell. The 13 x 18.5 inch painted dial has a rocking ship automaton in the arch.  The moving galleon has a marine background with 2 other vessels and the sides of the aperture are decorated with a castle with figures and a rocky landscape.  The spandrels are finished with floral and formal decoration.  The face has subsidiary seconds dial and calendar aperture, makers name John Jones, Newtown w.  The hands are black steel.
Height including finial  is 7 feet 9 inches  and the footprint is 22 x 10 inches
