Antique Canton Mother Of Pearl Thread Winder

 Chinese Export * Circa 1820-30

This silk winder is carved of mother of pearl in a four lobed shape. The lobes on both sides are etched with flowers and the center on one side has an Oriental figure going about his daily life.

The back side has a sliver like chip at one edge but the condition is otherwise excellent. It measures slightly over 1 1/2" square (as shown) and 2" across from lobe to lobe. It was made in China (Canton) for the English market and dates to the early 19th century.
