Primitive 18th century wrought iron Harnen made in Ireland.  Used in Ireland during the 18th-Century to dry and toast oat cakes normally placed down hearth, in-front of an open fire.  Also known as a harnen stand, served a unique purpose. Instead of baking, it was used to slowly dry a traditional oat bread called bannock cooked with a peat fire!  This drying process allowed people to prepare their oatcakes without the need for an oven.  Most likely made by an artisan blacksmith.   Measures: Height 15.75" x Width 14 1/2" x 2.5" Deep.  Does not have the back leg stand.  Estimated to have been handcrafted in approximately 1760's.  Very nice condition considering it is roughly 264 years old.  This piece is perfect for collectors of the rare, unique, and exotic. It brings an element of history to any room it is placed in.
