Condition and description

Very good minus condition. Rebound volume.

Foolscap 8vo. (6¾" x 4¼ " [17.1cm x 10.7cm]). Pp.: viii, 238. Rebound textured lichen green, thick paper covered hardback boards with black stamped lettering to spine. Author(s) unknown. Copiously illustrated with original plates of Victorian era woodcuts. Illustrations uncredited but many can be identified by artist’s signatures to plates.

Very good minus book. Skilfully rebound 130 years old book. Sound binding. Pages slightly tender at binding in first and final gatherings due to age and usage of paper. One loose page (p.215). Scattered foxing throughout the book. Recto of 1st prelim toned with some markings from previous owners. Final page also toned (p.238).

Else clean, presentable collectable volume of tales of early Arctic exploration, complete with copious Victorian woodcut illustrations by masters of the art.
